September 2026 Meeting

Welcome

Lodge Southern Cross warmly invites all brethren to our September meeting at the Sydney Masonic Centre. The evening will feature an Initiation Ceremony, followed by fellowship in the South.

An initiation is one of the most important evenings in the life of a lodge. It is the moment a man formally begins his journey in Freemasonry, taking his first step into the Craft as an Entered Apprentice.

Work for the Evening: Initiation

An initiation marks the beginning of a man’s Masonic journey and introduces the principles that sit at the heart of Freemasonry: integrity, humility, discipline, self-knowledge, and the desire to become better through reflection and practice.

In Masonic terms, initiation is the entry point into the Craft. It is when a candidate is received into Freemasonry and begins his life as an Entered Apprentice. The ceremony is designed to be meaningful, memorable, and symbolic, giving the candidate his first experience of the lessons, traditions, and moral framework of the lodge.

For the lodge, every initiation is a renewal. It is a reminder that the Craft continues from one generation to the next through teaching, mentoring, and brotherhood. For experienced brethren, witnessing an initiation is also a chance to reflect on their own first steps in Masonry and the obligations that come with helping shape those who follow.

The South

Following the meeting, we will gather in the South for a pub menu at $40 and enjoy the fellowship that always makes a Lodge Southern Cross meeting worth attending.

The South is where conversation continues, friendships deepen, and the spirit of the evening carries on beyond the formal work of the lodge. It is an important part of our Masonic life and one of the ways we strengthen the bonds of brotherhood.
